Bherjan-Borajan-Padumoni Wildlife Sanctuary

Introduction
Situated in the Tinsukia district of Assam, this is a very small sactuary,but rich in wildlife, specially macaque & ape species. Bherjan-Borajan-Padumoni is consist of with 3 separate forests, namely Bherjan, Borajan, & Padumoni.Though it is a sanctuary with a small area, 7.22 Sq.Km, it is very important forest in terms of conservation point of view.An ideal habitat for primates, most of the Primate species including Hoolock Gibbon, Capped Langur are found here.Vegetation falls under the category of Evergreen Forests ( rainforest).

Wildlife
Fauna 
Some of the mammals found in the sanctuary are Slow Loris, Assamese Macaque,Pig tailed Macaque, Rhesus Macaue,Capped Langur, Stump tailed Macaque and Hoolock Gibbon. Aprt from these Leopards , Wild Pigs and Giant Flying Squirrel are also found here.
Avifauna
Till date, 84 species of birds have been found including Osprey, Kingfisher, Indian Pied Hornbill, Lineated Barbet, Woodpecker, Drongo, Common Mynah, Bulbul, Magpie robin, Wgatail and varieties of woodlands birds.
Flora  
Bherjan-Borajan-Padumoni is basically a wet evergreen forests.Characteristics of rainforests is found here.

How to reach 
Nearest airport is Mohanbari ( Dibrugarh). Tinsukia rail station is the nearest railhead.Distance from Mohanbari Airport is about 40 kms. From Tinsukia town, Bherjan block is 3 kms away, borajan block is 6 kms away & Padumoni block is 5 kms away.
